SCORAD and PO SCORAD

SCORAD

The SCORAD (scoring atopic dermatitis) was created in September 1990 by a European Task Force. Published in "Dermatology in 1993; 186(1): 23-31 Consensus Report of the European Task Force on Atopic Dermatitis", the SCORAD has become a reference tool for the follow-up and evaluation of the pathology. It is filled in by the doctor on each visit to follow up on the evaluation of the atopic dermatitis.

PO SCORAD

The PO SCORAD (Patient Oriented SCORAD) is a tool to self-evaluate atopic dermatitis.
It provides the patient with an opportunity to use the same evaluation method as his or her doctor, which helps in selecting treatments and allows for an evolving curve of the eczema to be established between two visits to the doctor.
By using the same evaluation chart, the patient and the doctor can focus on a single objective: the improvement of the disease on a day-by-day basis.

Explanation to be provided to the patient :

« The PO-SCORAD evaluates the state of your eczema over the last three days.

To better understand your disease
To better identify the main symptoms
And, finally, to better communicate with your doctor, use the PO SCORAD.

To calculate a score, you need to evaluate the following items :

The physical scope of your eczema
The severity of the dry skin, excluding the eczema
The intensity of the symptoms in the area affected by eczema
The intensity of the problems related to the eczema (in particular, itching and sleep disorders).  »
